Our Story
Almanac was born out of the desire to honor the cycles of nature and the moon, rooted in the traditions that celebrate them. Through collaboration with James Beard ward Winning Danny Childs of Slow Drinks, our bar program is built on local and hyper seasonal ingredients.
Together we have created an intimate dining and cocktail experience focused on honoring Japanese and American elements, representing a cultural richness.
Almanac blends both seasonal ingredients and thoughtful design, welcoming guests into a space where every detail is considered. We are a tribute to tradition and connection. At Almanac, we encourage guests to savor each moment – embracing the changing seasons.

Slow Drinks Consulting
Danny Childs is the author of the James Beard Award-winning book Slow Drinks and the founder of the company by the same name. Danny is a trained ethnobotanist whose botanical approach to creating beverages embodies local flavors by utilizing ingredients foraged from the wild, picked from his cocktail garden, and sourced from local farms.
Danny teaches others how to create drinks in this manner through his consulting business, educational courses, and with his role on the Slow Food Ark of Taste committee.

Rob Scott’s passion for bartending and Japanese culture began early in life. When the pandemic pushed him to leave his corporate career, he found himself elevating the bar program at Queen & Rook, bartending and opening a new career direction.
Rob’s journey continued to Farm & Fisherman Tavern in Cherry Hill, NJ, where he first connected with Danny Childs; Embracing the philosophy of “Slow Drinks”. At the same time, he joined the team at Ranstead Room, helping Nico Diaz revive its Milk & Honey-inspired program.
After years of bartending, time in Japan, and working alongside industry leaders, Rob jumped at the chance to collaborate with Childs again. Together, they launched Almanac in Old City, Philadelphia, blending meticulous techniques, creative innovation, and cultural inspiration into a unique, experiential concept.
